One of the most eagerly-awaited design elements of the London 2012 Olympics was launched recently - the pictograms
To many designers, the Olympics pictograms are one of those dream projects. Very angular to reflect the logo most likely, interesting job
This video introduces the viewer to the new iPod touch and the interactivity it brings to the user. This advert works within the layout of the website and actually interacts with its surroundings, clever stuff and very eye catching, nothing less than we expected from the mighty Mac.
Great viral videos are hard to come by, but Volkswagen (or rather ad agency DDB Stockholm) appears to have hit the bullseye. Their new campaign “The Fun Theory” is a series of experiments, captured on video, to find out if making the world more fun can improve peoples behavior. The top video, Piano Stairs, has achieved over 1 million views on You Tube

Rockin’ packaging

This deluxe collectors edition of backtrack AC/DC is designed to resemble a vintage AC/DC guitar amp complete with the original logo that was spray-painted onto the rear of Angus and Malcolms speaker cabinets in 1975. The head of the amp has a handle that lifts the top off to reveal the contents housed within. To top it off the head houses one watt of pure AC/DC, a real working amp! You can PLAY the box set while LISTENING TO the box set! Check out the videos of Angus using the amp

British Airways is showing their new flights to Dublin, Switzerland and Amsterdam from London City Airport with a few advertisements. The ads seen below show a Swiss army knife looking like a plane and the Thames taking shape of a Clover. Good idea but properly not the best idea to use a Swiss knife to represent a plane.

On The Rocks

Absolut vodka is coming out with a new limited edition bottle clad in leather and studs. The Rock Edition is due on sale in the next few months and is part of the new marketing campaign which is trying to link vodka to the rock music market. The product which is due to sell first at Selfridges aims to making its consumers fell like rock stars. It will be interesting to see if it does as well as the previous Masquerade and Disco bottles seen last year.
Bose the specialised audio equipment company has come up with a new campaign demonstrating the affect their noise canceling headphone range has on the customer. This ad is out to show no matter what the everyday sound they can block it out. The clever use of mime artist demonstrates the affect the headphones have on the listeners and that the background noise might as well be a mime artist.
Cleaning up
Bounty have been demonstrating how their absorbent paper towels can deal with big spills. New Yorkers were greeted with a spilt six foot tall coffee cup completed with steam and the aroma of fresh coffee. Another clever idea was to have a seven-foot, 550 pound lollipop in Los Angeles that showed it melting in the street. Next to both of these is an advert for Bounty with the words “Makes small work of BIG spills”
A few other advertising campaigns have been demonstrating ads coming to life like Bounty, this has been seen with Orbits juicy gum which shows the juicy filling overspilling out of the ad onto the pavement.

Heres another advert that is becoming an internet sensation. This adorable campaign for Evian water show the Nappie wearing infants rollerskating around to a remix of Sugarhill Gang’s Rapper’s Delight. The 60 second film includes 96 special-effects including ‘hip hop’ stunts. Speaking to the Guardian the worldwide director of brand at Evian said;
“In the majority of countries in recent years our communication has been very fact-based, but consumers expect more from a big brand – emotion, dream. This is what we want to achieve, hence this breakaway and back to roots campaign.” It unknown when the advert will come to the UK but lets hope its quick.
